Five Malaysian students to Visit India under the “Visit of Students from ASEAN Member States to India” programme

Five Malaysian students will be visiting India under the “Visit of Students from ASEAN Member States to India” programme from 17 to 27 November 2008. Mr. Khairul Azfar bin Kamaruzaman, Ms. Abbilasya Varatharaju, Mr. Dipesh Sanghvi, Mr. Prevrnavan Amirtham and Mr. Nagarajan S. Thanneermalai would be leaving for Bangalore on the first leg of their visit on 16 November 2008 (Sunday).

As part of the “Visit of Students from ASEAN Member States to India” programme, the students would be visiting Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Agra, and Delhi. The tour would include a visit to reputed Indian universities such as Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore, and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Chennai They will also be visiting the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), which recently launched India’s first Mission to the Moon.  The students would also interact with representatives of business and media establishments. Entire expenditure on travel and stay of the students would be borne by the Government of India.

At the last ASEAN – India SOM in Bali in April 2008, India has offered to invite 100 students from ASEAN countries to visit places of educational, industrial, cultural and tourist importance. This programme would be organised on an annual basis. The next batch of five Malaysian students will be visiting India in March 2009. The High Commission of India would be selecting the next batch of five students based on essays on specific topics relating to India, the details of which would be placed on the website soon.
